1. We are made of love,
And all the beauty stemming from it.
    We are made of love,
And every fracture caused by the lack of it.

“You were a million years of work,”
Said God and His angels, with needle and thread.
They kissed your head and said,
“You’re a good kid and you make us proud.
So just give your best and the rest will come,
    And we’ll see you soon.”

    ❤️

    Toy adaptation: work in progress.

I love this whole process, but it just got a lot more complicated than I had originally planned.

  5. Kindness by Naomi Shihab Nye

Before you know what kindness really is
    you must lose things,
feel the future dissolve in a moment
like salt in a weakened broth.
What you held in your hand,
what you counted and carefully saved,
all this must go so you know
how desolate the landscape can be
    between the regions of kindness.
    How you ride and ride
thinking the bus will never stop,
the passengers eating maize and chicken
will stare out the window forever.

Before you learn the tender gravity of kindness,
you must travel where the Indian in a white poncho
lies dead by the side of the road.
You must see how this could be you,
    how he too was someone
who journeyed through the night with plans
and the simple breath that kept him alive.

Before you know kindness as the deepest thing inside,
you must know sorrow as the other deepest thing.
You must wake up with sorrow.
You must speak to it till your voice
catches the thread of all sorrows
and you see the size of the cloth.

Then it is only kindness that makes sense anymore,
only kindness that ties your shoes
and sends you out into the day to mail letters and
    purchase bread,
only kindness that raises its head
from the crowd of the world to say
it is I you have been looking for,
and then goes with you everywhere
like a shadow or a friend.

    I’m never gonna wait
    that extra twenty minutes
    to text you back,
    and I’m never gonna play
    hard to get
    when I know your life
    has been hard enough already.
When we all know everyone’s life
    has been hard enough already
    it’s hard to watch
the game we make of love,
    like everyone’s playing checkers
    with their scars,
    saying checkmate
    whenever they get out
    without a broken heart.
    Just to be clear
I don’t want to get out
    without a broken heart.
I intend to leave this life
    so shattered
    there’s gonna have to be
    a thousand separate heavens
for all of my flying parts.

Pray for South Korea

Maybe someday, tragedies like this will make sense. Maybe in the grander scheme of things, it is all as it should be. Maybe someday, these reasons will be revealed to me.Maybe.Right now, I do not understand it. And in this lifetime, I don’t think I ever will. When I hear of parents losing their children in such a tragic way, I do not get it. My heart bleeds for them. It is all I can do.My faith in God is so strong that I am comfortable with not knowing why such things happen. I believe in His plans though I do not know them.I know these kids are safe and loved… wherever they are. ❤ I pray for love, light, and peace to envelop their parents today and for the days and years to come. ❤️"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. We need women who are so strong they can be gentle, so educated they can be humble, so fierce they can be compassionate, so passionate they can be rational, and so disciplined they can be free.
